Second Hand Kit?

Hi,

We are looking to set up a small market garden in Mid Cornwall and are currently sourcing kit. Does anyone have any/ can recommend sources for the following:

Fleece, mesh, black plastic mulch, irrigation kit, earthway seeder, crates, seed trays etc.

We are south west based and can come and pick up within this area.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Amelia,

Hi Amelia,

Probably not a good idea to buy second-hand fleece as doesn't last long (2 or 3 seasons max) and once it starts to get a hole or 2 in it then it's not doing its job (for pest control, in any case). Same goes with black plastic mulch, unless it is a woven polythene like mypex, or you can re-use heavy duty material like sheets used for silage clamps etc. Mesh will last longer, but may need cleaning.

Best thing is to keep an eye out for farm/nursery dispersal sales locally (local papers etc), ebay tracked searches for specific items and keep an eye on here!

Hi Phil,

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the advice, will keep an eye out for nursery sales. . At the farm I'm working on they manage to use plack plastic which is not mypex, maybe a 3 season plastic for many years so I guess I'll get some new and see how many years I can make it last!

I'm managing ok for modules and got a second hand earthway so going ok so far, thanks to the growing community.

Kind regards,

Amelia
